Haiti

This past week I had the opportunity to go back to Haiti to help with some medical clinics and meet with Dr. Thintiot regarding the Children of God Foundation.
The foundation currently supports 56 children. The donations towards the foundation go directly to paying for the kids schooling, school supplies, and food. These children have at least one family member taking care of them, but their parents are lacking the resources to pay for things such as schooling and food. The Children of God Foundation is partnering with these parents by providing them with the necessary resources to be able to keep their children at home with them.

Potential Property for Foundation

Thintiot sent me this message:
"I talked to someone about a place on which we could build a campus for the foundation, and he told me that he has land if i want to buy it for $ 15,000 US.  I told him that we don't have money to buy a place like that. But I say in my heart that I will pray about it, because i know that God can send money for that.  Yesterday the proprietor of the place was talking to someone about me, saying that I want to buy her place and the other one explained my project and the reasons that I want to buy the place, The proprietor was soo happy to know what the land would be used for. He just called me today to tell me that, he wants to participate in the foundation by selling the place for only $5000 US, just to build the foundation for the kids.  Now i just have to praise the name of the lord and pray him to send more help to us because i really want to buy that place for the foundation."
God is good! Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." Whether this property is purchased or not, God's plan will succeed.  We believe that if the Lord wants the Children of God Foundation to be established, He will provide.  Please prayerfully consider donating money towards purchasing the property so that the Children of God Foundation can construct a building. Please pray that the necessary funds will be collected.   

Elvinor Thintiot, a Haitian medical student, formed this foundation in order to help the hundreds of needy children from his hometown. The Foundation currently provides around 20 children with food and schooling. 200 more children are in need of support. Thintiot plans to build an orphanage for these children once he finishes medical school.

Description of the Foundation

Justification of the Foundation

It is not a political institution but rather a center of social reintegration which aims at all children regardless of gender, ethnicity, or economic status. Because they are invaluable to God, our main concern is to take care of children. The CHILDREN OFF GOD FOUNDATION has the role of treating the children with benevolence, teaching them to know and love the Creator, and giving the children an intellectual and professional education in order that they may be able to face this life.

The Spiritual Mission of the Foundation

Just as the American President Jefferson said that one cannot direct a country without God and the Bible, we will not be able to change or transform the lives of these children without God and His Word. The key verse of the foundation is drawn from the book of Proverbs. Proverbs 22:6 states, “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Thus using Biblical stories and songs, we will teach the children to fear and obey God, to have wisdom, love, charity, and to value work.

The Social Mission of the Foundation

Sadly, many of these Haitian children have been deprived of basic privileges. The foundation hopes to give to these children another taste of life such as being able to eat on time and more than once per day and not having to sleep in the open air or in the corners of the streets but in a home as humans should. We hope to offer to the children a place in which they do not have to fear, but can be at ease, like all the other children of the world, without having to be concerned about the following day and without suffering. We hope to help the children of God because they are created in His image. We desire to train social and moral men being able to serve their country like true citizens.

The Economical Mission of the Foundation

Our broad objective is to equip each young person who leaves the center with the ability to be autonomous and able to work to take care of not only him or herself but also of a future family. Moreover we hope to form a group of young persons who have graduated from the foundation who will be willing to support children who are still in the center.

The Intellectual Mission of the Foundation

The Children of God Foundation also plans to establish within the center, primary, secondary, and professional schools which will be able to serve the children of the foundation and the zones surrounding the center. Once finishing primary education, a student will have the opportunity to choose a profession which he or she wishes to pursue. In this way, before finishing their secondary education, the student will be prepared to select a professional study available at valid graduate programs, recognized by the chief of the country.

The Medical Mission of the Foundation

The Children of God Foundation will be equipped with a hospital in order to assist the children from the center and those from the surrounding area. Many of these children have illnesses because of the conditions in which they reside. Those who live on the streets or in the surrounding zones are particularly prone to pathology. Thus the hospital will be able to provide adequate medical support to the community and the center itself. After all, one cannot be useful or learn if one is not in good health.

Children Targeted by the Foundation

The Children of God Foundation targets three groups of children. First of all, the foundation hopes to help orphans. Sadly there are a great number of orphans resulting from the catastrophes of January 12, 2012. Secondly, the foundation hopes to help the children who live in the streets. Thirdly, the foundation hopes to help the children of the over-populated family.

Stage I : Zero to three months
Stage II : Three months to six years
Stage III : Six to twelve years
Stage IV : Twelve to eighteen years
Start V : Eighteen years and older

BIOGRAPHY OF THE FOUNDER


I am ELVINOR Thintiot, I was born in Pignon a small commune located in northern Haiti, it is approximately 66 kilometers away from Cape-Haitian. I was born in a relatively small family, considering the economic problems with which my country has confronted since it’s beginning. I went to school at seven years old by the grace the American organization, WORLDVISION. But I must sincerely tell you that the way in which I was selected was really miraculous. I was playing in a yard with approximately ten other kids and the person from Worldvision came and chose me. Thus two Biblical stories came to be true in my life, the story of David and that of Joseph. After completing my primary education the WORLDVISION funding ended. But I still had a problem paying for a secondary school. To tell you the truth the tuition was not really expensive because three US dollars could pay for one month of classes for me. However, my parents could not pay this sum for me. I did not want to remain at home, so I decided to go to school in spite the lack of money. Sometimes to pay one month I had to pay in several sections. But one day before taking an examination, they asked all those who had not paid for the month to return home. My debt at that time was less than two US dollars. I was very ashamed that I could not remain in school, and I returned home crying. When I arrived home, I told to my mom that I was not allowed to take the exam and how ashamed I felt. My mom said to, “My son, one day God will change our situation and you will never cry nor feel shame for as small a sum as that, because God will bless you. Because we did not have money at the house, I was unable to attend school for over a month.

One year later God sent my way an American by the name of Thomas J Johnson. He has helped fund not only my secondary education but also part of my continuing education as well. Soon, I will graduate from medical school and will be a doctor. Ever since a young age, my dream has been to create a center which is able to receive children that are still in the same situation as I was when I was between seven and fifteen years old. I want to help God’s children to have a pleasant life like all the other children of the world. The only way I could have ever become a doctor is because someone helped me. In the same way, I want to help orphans, the children living on the streets, and the children of over-populated families. Thus the foundation will be the residence of all the children who do not have a place to live.
